English Summer School in Malta for Children & Teens (Ages 8–17)

Give Your Child an Unforgettable Summer School Experience in Malta

Our junior students study and live at our summer campus in St Paul's Bay, on Malta's vibrant northern coast, during July and August. Days are spent in air-conditioned classrooms with native English teachers; afternoons and weekends are full of beach days, boat trips, and excursions across the island. Every student is supervised by our multilingual team around the clock — from the moment they land at Malta International Airport to the moment they fly home.

Two age groups, taught separately

Kids — Ages 8 to 12

Younger learners are placed in their own age-specific classes and activity groups, with content and excursions tailored to their pace. Closer supervision, earlier bedtime curfews, and dedicated junior leaders for the whole stay.

Teens — Ages 13 to 17

Teenagers learn alongside peers their own age, with subject material and after-school activities pitched for them. More independence within structured supervision: one free afternoon, one free evening, and a free Sunday each week.

Modern, Air-Conditioned School

Our spacious, well-lit classrooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with interactive whiteboards and ensuite bathrooms for maximum comfort.

Located in a peaceful residential area of St Paul's Bay, the school is just minutes from the lively promenade, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and cafés. It offers the perfect balance of calm study and convenience.

Seamless Campus Living & 24/7 Supervision

Only an 8-minute walk separates the school from our junior residence, allowing students to rest, change, and refresh between lessons and activities with ease.

Our dedicated team provides constant supervision and care, ensuring safety and peace of mind while students enjoy full participation in every excursion and activity without long travel or heavy bags.

Right Next to the Action

The buzzing promenade, beach clubs, and crystal-clear Mediterranean Sea are just a short walk away. Students can swim, relax with ice cream, or explore the many shops and cafés in their free time.

Everything St Paul's Bay has to offer, from local markets to entertainment, is literally on the doorstep.

Taught by Native English Speakers

All classes are delivered by qualified, experienced native English-speaking teachers using engaging National Geographic Learning materials and modern interactive methods.

Students improve their English quickly in small classes while gaining confidence in a fun, supportive environment.

Your child's accommodation — three options

Choose the residence type that suits your child best. All three options include full board, 24/7 staff coverage, and two-way airport transfers.

Standard Junior Residence

Ages 8–17. Our main residence in St Paul's Bay, just 8 minutes' walk from the school. Triple and quad rooms, full board, indoor and outdoor pools, rooftop jacuzzi, games room, karaoke and movie nights, age-appropriate curfews, and 24/7 leader coverage.

Superior Residence (AX ODYCY)

Ages 16–17 only. A modern hotel residence 800 metres from the school, with indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, indoor leisure areas, and hotel-grade facilities. Suited to older teens who appreciate a more independent, hotel-style environment.

Maltese Homestay

Vetted Maltese host families, all meeting Maltese government-regulated standards. Home-cooked meals, full cultural immersion, and a quieter family environment. A favourite with parents who want their child practising English at the dinner table as well as in class.

Who looks after your child

From the moment your child lands in Malta to the moment they fly home, they are in the care of our multilingual leader team. We take this seriously — and we make it easy for parents to understand exactly how it works.

24/7 leader coverage

Our team is on duty around the clock for the full duration of the programme — including overnight, mealtimes, and during all excursions. No moment is unsupervised.

Police-certified, first-aid trained

Every member of the leader team holds a current police conduct certificate and is trained in safeguarding, child protection, and first aid.

Defined leader roles

Live-in Leaders cover the residence; Day & Activity Leaders run lessons and excursions; Senior Leaders supervise the team; a Night Duty Manager is on call overnight.

Multilingual team

Italian, German, French, Spanish, Russian, and more spoken between our leaders — so younger students or those with less English always have someone who can speak to them in their own language. Many of our leaders return year after year.

Parents' frequently asked questions

How does my child get from Malta International Airport to the residence?

Two-way airport transfers are included as standard when you book residence or homestay accommodation. A member of our team meets your child at the airport on arrival and accompanies them to their accommodation; a return transfer is provided on the day of departure. For unaccompanied minors, please ask about our supported flight options at the time of booking.

How do I stay in touch with my child during the programme?

Children are free to use their own mobile phones during their personal time. Our leader team is reachable 24/7 by parents in case of urgent contact, and we provide a parent contact line on arrival.

What about meals and dietary requirements?

All students staying at the residence receive full board: breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Vegetarian, halal, gluten-free, lactose-free, and other dietary requirements are accommodated on request — please tell us at the time of booking so we can prepare.

What if my child gets sick or has a medical emergency?

Travel and medical insurance is included for the full duration of the stay. Our leader team is first-aid trained and contacts local medical services if needed. We notify parents immediately if any medical attention is required.

Who else attends the summer school?

We typically host students from across Europe, Latin America, and Asia in the same programme — Italian, German, Spanish, French, Polish, Czech, Brazilian, Japanese, Turkish, Russian, and more. Mixed nationalities mean students naturally end up speaking English with one another, and our class allocation deliberately spreads nationalities across groups.

What level of English does my child need?

Any level — from absolute beginner to advanced. Every new student takes a placement test on arrival and is placed in a class matching their level. Classes have up to 15 students, so teachers can give every child individual attention.

What dates does the summer programme run?

Our 2026 junior summer programme runs from 23 May to 6 September. We also run shorter junior programmes at Easter (28 March–19 April) and in autumn (3–25 October). Stays can be from 1 to 15 weeks.

Are mobile phones, screens, and curfews regulated?

Yes — age-appropriate curfews and screen-time guidance apply. Younger children (8–12) have earlier curfews and supervised screen time; teens (13–17) have later curfews with one free afternoon, one free evening, and a free Sunday each week within the supervised programme.

What should my child pack?

A detailed packing list is sent with the booking confirmation. The essentials are: comfortable clothes for warm weather, swimwear and a beach towel, sun cream and a sun hat, sturdy shoes for walking tours, a light cardigan for air-conditioned classrooms, and any prescription medication clearly labelled.

What makes Maltalingua different from other summer schools?

We are an EAQUALS-accredited boutique school, not a mass-market summer camp. Class sizes are kept small (up to 15), all teachers are native English speakers using National Geographic Learning materials, supervision is genuinely 24/7 by our multilingual team, and our packages are truly all-inclusive with no hidden fees. Many of our junior leaders return year after year — your child will often be looked after by the same familiar faces other parents have already trusted.
