Maltalingua is an independent, family-run English school in the heart of St Julian’s, Malta. We are deliberately small: one campus, one close-knit community, and a team that knows every student by name. Since 2012 we have helped students from around the world learn English in Malta, combining serious teaching with the warmth of a genuine boutique school.
Our story
Founded in 2012 and British-owned ever since, Maltalingua was built on a simple idea: students learn English faster, and enjoy it more, in a small and personal setting. While the large chains grew through volume, we chose to stay boutique — protecting our class sizes, teaching quality and the friendly atmosphere our students and partners know us for.

Life at Maltalingua — beyond the classroom
Learning English doesn’t stop when the lesson ends. Our social team runs a full programme every week — boat trips to the Blue Lagoon and Comino, beach afternoons, historic visits to Valletta and Mdina, food nights, parties on our rooftop terrace and weekend excursions across the islands. It is the fastest, most enjoyable way to put your English into practice and make friends from all over the world.
A typical week
- Mornings — focused English lessons in classes of no more than 12.
- Afternoons — optional activities, study time, the rooftop pool or exploring St Julian’s.
- Evenings & weekends — a lively social programme of dinners, parties and island excursions.
Courses for every age, all year round
We teach English language courses in Malta for every level and goal: General and Intensive English, Business English, exam preparation (IELTS and Cambridge) and one-to-one lessons for adults all year round, plus junior, teen and family programmes in summer, Easter and autumn. Awards & accreditations
Maltalingua is EAQUALS-accredited and licensed by the Malta ELT Council. We are the only school in Malta ever shortlisted for the StudyTravel “English Language School Europe” award, a repeat nominee for our junior programme, and a multiple winner of the LanguageCourses.net Excellence Award — most recently a finalist at the 2026 GoAbroad Innovation Awards.
