Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance for Your Trip to Malta
Protect yourself against the unexpected and enjoy peace of mind during your stay.

Adequate travel insurance is an essential part of planning your trip to Malta. All students travelling to Maltalingua are required to have suitable travel insurance in place before departure. It not only safeguards you against unexpected costs but also allows you to focus fully on your studies and experiences while abroad. With the right policy in place, you can feel confident knowing you are covered in case of medical emergencies, travel delays, cancellations, or loss of belongings.

Important: Before travelling to Malta, all students must have suitable travel insurance in place. This should cover medical expenses, trip cancellation, travel disruption, and flight delays or cancellations.

Please note that Maltalingua cannot accept responsibility for airline disruption, cancelled or delayed flights, missed connections, or other travel issues outside the school’s control. For this reason, students and families must ensure they have adequate insurance cover before departure.

If travel disruption happens, our team will always try to help with practical next steps where possible, but any insurance claim, airline claim, or travel-related loss remains the responsibility of the student and their insurer or travel provider.

Why Travel Insurance Matters

Students are required to obtain travel insurance when coming to Malta. This ensures protection against cancellation fees, medical emergencies, lost baggage, or other unexpected situations. With a suitable policy, you can quickly recover costs and avoid unnecessary stress during your stay.

Tip: Carry both paper and digital copies of your insurance documents and emergency contacts.

Recommended Coverage Types

  • Health insurance valid across the EU or Malta-specific cover
  • Trip cancellation and interruption
  • Accident insurance
  • Cover for lost or stolen valuables
  • Travel disruption, including flight delay, flight cancellation, and missed connections

Students from EU countries should carry an EHIC or GHIC card. Non-EU students should ensure their insurance specifically covers Malta.

Choosing and Using Insurance

Compare policies carefully and look for providers offering 24/7 multilingual support, straightforward claims procedures, and clear coverage limits. If you need to make a claim, notify your insurer immediately, keep receipts, and follow instructions. Store digital copies on your phone for easy access.

Tip: Some credit cards include travel insurance — check before purchasing extra cover.
