Active Learning, Activities & Free Time
The Maltese islands, located at the heart of the Mediterranean, offer a perfect setting for unforgettable experiences that revolve around the sun, sea, and swimming. At our school, we have curated an active learning programme that not only encompasses these exhilarating activities but also includes cultural excursions and entertaining evenings, ensuring a well-rounded and engaging experience for our students.
Welcome Dinner
We organise a welcome dinner that sets the tone for the exciting weeks ahead. This first evening is a great opportunity for students to get to know their group leaders, teachers, and fellow students in a relaxed, informal setting. We include fun introductions, ice-breaking games and a delicious meal so that everyone starts their experience with smiles and positive energy. By combining food, conversation and activities, we create a welcoming environment that immediately makes students feel at home.
Boat Trips
Boat trips to Comino Island and the Blue Lagoon at weekends form one of the highlights of the Maltalingua experience. Students travel on modern boats, enjoy spectacular views of the Maltese coastline and stop to swim or snorkel in crystal-clear waters. We also include informative commentary from staff so students can learn more about the natural and cultural heritage of Malta’s famous bays. These trips combine relaxation, education and adventure for a memorable weekend outing.
Evening Events
Junior parties filled with music, laughter, and entertainment, plus Isle of MTV annual concert. We curate themed evenings ranging from karaoke and quiz nights to international food fairs and local culture showcases. These evenings are designed to keep students entertained while encouraging them to practise English in a friendly setting. With supervision and a focus on inclusivity, everyone can join in, discover new friendships, and enjoy Malta’s lively atmosphere safely.
Sports & Outdoor Games
Football, beach volleyball, tennis or table tennis tournaments, treasure hunts, obstacle courses, ball games and more. Our sports and games programme is structured to promote teamwork, fair play, and healthy competition. We carefully select venues and equipment to ensure safety and provide trained staff to guide the activities. By blending physical exercise with light-hearted fun, students develop new skills, boost their confidence, and gain experiences that go far beyond the classroom.
Watersports
'Banana' boat rides, crazy sofa ride and optional kayaking or snorkelling. These activities provide the thrill of adventure while remaining supervised and carefully planned. We offer guidance on how to use equipment safely and provide life jackets as standard. Optional upgrades let students try additional watersports for a small extra fee, so they can customise their holiday according to their own appetite for excitement. It’s an ideal way to experience Malta’s coastline from a whole new perspective.
Culture & Exploration
Guided tours to Malta’s greatest historical and cultural landmarks. We take students to Valletta, Mdina and the Three Cities to reveal centuries of fascinating stories. Students explore museums, historic streets and viewpoints while listening to engaging guides who bring Malta’s heritage alive. By walking through authentic local environments, students naturally practise their English while learning about architecture, traditions and Maltese daily life, making every excursion a living classroom.
Beaches & Relaxation
Golden Bay, Paradise Bay and weekly meetings at our Beach Club provide the perfect contrast to busy study days. Students can swim, sunbathe, and play beach games under the careful supervision of our staff. We also include optional wellbeing activities such as stretching or mindfulness on the sand. The aim is to give juniors a true taste of Maltese coastal life, balancing active learning with moments of rest and connection with nature.
Free Time
One free afternoon, one evening and a full day on Sundays for students aged 13–17 years. We encourage students to use this time to explore the island in small groups, practise independence, and discover hidden gems beyond the scheduled programme. Our staff provide clear recommendations and optional activities at discounted rates. This freedom allows students to recharge, socialise at their own pace and build confidence in navigating a new environment safely.
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to ensuring that your time in Malta is not only educational but full of adventure, cultural exploration, and that you have the opportunity to create lifelong memories. Our wide range of activities and excursions, in addition to our high-quality language instruction, provide an immersive and rewarding experience that goes beyond traditional language learning.
