At Maltalingua, we believe that a safe, respectful and comfortable living environment plays an important role in your overall learning experience.
These apartment rules are designed to:
- ✅ Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- 🛏️ Maintain a clean, hygienic and pleasant environment for everyone.
- 🤝 Promote mutual respect and cooperation among flatmates from different backgrounds and cultures.
- 🧾 Protect school property and avoid unnecessary costs caused by misuse or damage.
- 📢 Encourage open communication and quick resolution of any issues that may arise during your stay.
By following these rules, you help create a positive and welcoming community where all students can enjoy their time at Maltalingua, both inside and outside the classroom.
Who these rules apply to: they apply to all students residing in Maltalingua-managed apartments, including shared and private accommodation. They are valid for the entire duration of the stay and are intended to complement Maltalingua’s general Terms & Conditions.
- 1.1 Use only the bed and room assigned to you on arrival.
- 1.2 Changing beds or rooms without permission is not allowed. If you do, you will be charged the nightly rate for the bed and an additional €50 cleaning and linen change fee.
For your safety and that of your housemates:
- 2.1 No guests are allowed to stay overnight.
- 2.2 You must not bring anyone into the apartment who is not booked with Maltalingua.
This is treated as a major breach.
- 3.1 Check-in time: you may enter your apartment on arrival, but rooms are ready from 3:00 pm.
- 3.2 Check-out time: you must leave your room by 10:00 am on the day of departure.
- 4.1 A €10 deposit is required for locker keys, refunded when returned.
- 4.2 Lost keys cost €10 each to replace.
- 4.3 Students are encouraged to keep personal belongings secure in their lockers.
- 5.1 Respect your housemates and neighbours — keep noise to a minimum, especially between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am.
- 5.2 Disruptive behaviour may result in warnings or relocation.
- 6.1 Keep all shared areas clean and tidy.
- 6.2 Dispose of your rubbish properly and avoid leaving dirty dishes or food lying around.
- 6.3 Maltalingua reserves the right to inspect rooms for cleanliness and hygiene.
- 7.1 Do not tamper with fire alarms, extinguishers or safety equipment.
- 7.2 Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors — use designated outdoor areas.
- 7.3 Inform staff immediately of any damage, leaks or safety concerns.
- 8.1 You are responsible for any damage you cause to the apartment or its furnishings.
- 8.2 Furniture must not be moved or rearranged, and no additional furniture may be brought into the apartment without prior written permission from Maltalingua.
- 8.3 Theft or vandalism will result in immediate disciplinary action and possible police involvement.
- 9.1 If you have any issues with your accommodation, please speak to a staff member as soon as possible using the emergency number — (+356) 9914 8982.
- 9.2 To make a formal complaint, request and submit a complaints form.
- 9.3 ⚠️ If a student chooses to leave the accommodation early without first notifying the school and allowing the issue to be addressed, no refund will be provided for any unused portion of the accommodation.
- 10.1 Any breach of the apartment rules will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action.
- 10.2 Minor breaches (e.g. noise disturbances, cleanliness issues) may result in a warning or a small fine.
- 10.3 Major breaches (e.g. damage to property, safety violations, disruptive behaviour, or failure to comply with check-in/check-out procedures) may result in a fine, relocation, or expulsion from the accommodation.
- 10.4 In cases of serious misconduct, including theft or vandalism, immediate expulsion from the accommodation and potential police involvement may occur.
All actions taken will be proportionate to the severity of the breach and the value of any items damaged or broken.
